WBCADC Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sonamukhi also known as KVK Sonamukhi or KVK Bankura is an Agricultural Research Centre. This KVK was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Resarch (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India started functioning for the district of Bankura since 1983 under West Bengal Comprehensive Area Development Corporation, Panchayats and Rural Development Department, Government of West Bengal. It is situated at Village Churamonipur in Sonamukhi Block under Bishnupur sub division of Bankura District.

• On-farm testing to assess the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.
• Front line demonstration on different crops / enterprise.
• Capacity development of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies.
• To work as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district.
• Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers.
• Quality seed production.

In addition, KVK produces quality technological products (seed, planting material, bio-agents, livestock) and make it available to farmers, organize frontline extension activities, identify and document selected farm innovations and converge with ongoing schemes and programs within the mandate of KVK. KVK also provides other activities like Farmers’ Field School (FFS), Village survey through PRA + PLA, Field Day, MGNREGA Programme, DAESI Training, Agril. Exhibition, Farm Science Club, Farm Science Club, SHG Formation etc.
